The Brigade in Florida

Florida weddings are planned around hurricane season, whatever the mood board says.

A Miami rooftop in February, 30A in the spring and a Key West courthouse on a Tuesday. Real Florida weddings, filed with the vendor list and the budget attached.

Florida’s calendar is the inverse of most of the country. Peak season runs roughly November to April, and June through October is both hurricane season and the cheapest stretch of the year. Venues discount accordingly, and a genuine weather contingency stops being optional.

Where people get married in Florida

Florida is several markets stacked into one state and they do not share vendors. The Gulf, the Atlantic, the Keys and the Orlando corridor each carry their own price floor, season and set of problems.

Miami and Palm Beach

The top of the state market. Rooftops, waterfront estates and a season from November to April, which is exactly when everyone else wants those dates.

Orlando

Theme park weddings, resort ballrooms and the largest supply of high-capacity venues in Florida.

Tampa and St. Petersburg

Historic hotels, museum venues and a lower price floor than the Atlantic coast for the same guest count.

Naples and Sarasota

Gulf beaches, private clubs and a very short high season running January to April.

30A and the Emerald Coast

White sand, house rentals and a spring market that fills eighteen months out.

The Keys

Small weddings, boat logistics and the tightest vendor supply in the state. Everything comes down the highway.

What planning here actually involves

Season, humidity and beach rules, none of which negotiate.

Hurricane season runs June to November

That covers half the year and all of the cheap dates. Marrying inside it means buying the insurance, reading the cancellation clause properly and picking a venue with a real indoor option.

Humidity decides the dress and the flowers

Outdoor summer ceremonies are short by necessity. Hair, makeup and any bloom that wilts have to be chosen for the afternoon rather than for the photographs.

Beach access rules vary street by street

Some beaches need permits, some ban chairs and amplified sound, and some are private below the high water line. Check the specific stretch, not the county.

The Florida vendor directory

Photographers, venues, florists and the people who keep the day running, filed by market so you are not scrolling past The Keys listings when the wedding is in Miami and Palm Beach. Every listing names what it costs and what it does not include.

Common questions

How much does a wedding cost in Florida?

About $32,560 statewide in 2026, with published figures ranging from $29,000 to $34,000. Miami and South Florida run $45,000 to $60,000 while central Florida sits at $25,000 to $40,000.

Is there a waiting period to marry in Florida?

Only for Florida residents, who face three days. Non-residents are exempt entirely and can marry the same day. Residents can waive it by completing an approved premarital course.

How much is a Florida marriage license?

$86, reduced to $61 if you both complete a Florida-approved premarital preparation course. The course also waives the three-day wait for residents.

When is hurricane season, and does it matter?

June through November, with the highest risk from August to October. Venue pricing drops in that window because the risk is real, so any outdoor date then needs a genuine indoor alternative.

When is wedding season in Florida?

Roughly November through April. Summer is hot, humid and stormy, which is exactly why it is the cheapest time to book.
